Pastoral Care
Our ethos is centred around being kind, thoughtful and caring. Wellbeing is part of everyday life here at Beech Hall School Riyadh. All pupils have a homeroom teacher who registers them each day. Our staff are always readily available to speak with parents.
We have a school counsellor and nurse on site to ensure that every aspect of a child’s physical and emotional learning is catered for.
What is the role of the BHSR Pastoral Team?
Our Team is dedicated to providing the best possible pastoral care and support to all of our pupils, to ensure that they fulfil their potential across our broad curriculum and to help them become the resilient lifelong learners they need to be.
Our aim is to provide all our pupils with the tools and strategies necessary to perform at their best both here in school and in their future lives and careers.
We are committed to promoting both their physical and mental wellbeing and our foundation is the Beech Hall values of Kindness, Respect, Inclusion, Excellence and Responsibility.
What are the benefits of a pastoral system?
Benefits for Pupils:
- The pastoral team works closely with academic teachers to ensure that all pupils are fulfilling their potential across the curriculum.
- As the school grows our aim is for our pupils to have a small school feeling in a big school. What does that mean? It means that as a member of a Home Room and a House, they have adults around them who know them well, and they can relate to, and that they develop a sense of belonging and identity.
- Our pastoral team is here to make sure that all pupils feel safe, valued and supported in their journey through the school. Regular check-ins and monitoring enable us to provide early interventions when required.
- We also work closely with academic staff and HR teachers to make clear our behavioral expectations and to help pupils develop self-discipline.
- Our house system provides pupils with leadership opportunities through roles such as House Captain or Vice Captain and it encourages participation in a wide variety of events. This will give our students confidence and take them out of their comfort zone; we encourage all pupils to try out new things and to pursue their passions.
Benefits for Parents:
- The pastoral system gives a clear structure to communication between school and home. Parents have a dedicated point of contact, and we aim help families stay engaged in their child’s school journey.
- We have a team around each child that is here to support them. Our swift interventions when issues arise ensure early support for pupils and parents.
- We work together with parents and encourage open dialogue and home support.
Benefits for the wider school community:
- The house system encourages a strong sense of unity and belonging across our schools and key stages.
- It enables us to promote our shared Beech Hall values of Kindness, Respect, Inclusion, Excellence and Responsibility.
- Our well-structured pastoral system is leading to more effective monitoring of behavioural issues which makes the school a happier place for all.
